More than 120 countries defied President Donald Trump on Thursday and voted in favor of a United Nations General Assembly resolution calling for the United States to drop its recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. Trump had threatened to cut off financial aid to countries that voted in favor. A total of 128 countries backed the resolution, which is non-binding, nine voted against and 35 abstained. Twenty-one countries did not cast a vote. Trump's threat appeared to have some impact, with more countries abstaining and rejecting the resolution than usually associated with Palestinian-related resolutions. A spokesman for Western-backed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called the vote "a victory for Palestine" but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the vote.   Turkish authorities will not allow New Year celebrations at Istanbul’s iconic Taksim Square for security reasons, state media reported Wednesday, quoting local officials.   A senior pastor of the Christian Charismatic Ministries, Innocent Nwangwu, has told an Enugu Magistrate Court that the General Overseer, Pastor Sabinus Onuigbo, forged documents to change the church’s Board of Trustees, BoT, after he was suspended for alleged misconduct. The General Overseer is facing trial before the magistrates court for alleged forgery. Onuigbo and five other senior pastors of the church, their names given as Tony Chukwu, Chukwuma Orji, Nick Nwoye and Tony Ike, were accused of conspiring to commit forgery. The offence is punishable under Section 495 (a) of the Criminal Code, cap. 30, Vol. 11, Laws of Enugu State of Nigeria 2004. The charge sheet in the suit numbered CME/56C/2017, stated that Onuigbo and the other accused persons, on or about July 16, 2014, and August 10, 2014, used forged documents to apply to the Corporate Affairs Commission to change the trustees of the church. Nigerian Singer, and Mtn Project Fame winner, Chidinma Ekile, AKA Ms Kedike, has revealed she was born blind. The star singer in an Interview with Guardian said according to her parents, she just could not see for some months. Chidinma said she would love to be seen more as someone who does a lot for visually-impaired kids and young people as she can relate with their situation. She said, “I was born blind. I just couldn’t see for some months. Since I sang about it, I felt the need to help kids that find themselves in such situations or even worse. So every time I travel to these places, I try to extend a hand of love to these children. “For some years now, I think like two years or thereabout. I’ve been using my foundation to do quite a lot of things. I’ve been able to take it to some places in Africa. The last time, I think I was in Togo and I was able to do a few things with the SOS village, I hope to do more of that.”
